An Introduction to the Geomagnetic Field
The Forgotten Source
Every Paranormal Investigator is aware of EMF, but just how many are aware of the biggest source of all?
The Earth! Like every domestic source of EMF, the Earth has a positive and a negative pole (North and South) which generate a concentric, elliptical field between them. This field is known as the geomagnetic field. Paranormal activity is thought to be affected by this field, and when the geomagnetic levels are high, such as after a solar flare or lunar phases where a greater gravitational pull affects the planet (such as at new or full moon); it is thought that the chances of witnessing paranormal activity increase. The KP index is our way of measuring this field; the higher the KP Index the greater the geomagnetic field. As the frequency of this field is outside the range picked up by our standard meters, checking the KP Index can only be achieved on-line. The on-line KP Index is a mean measurement of the planetary geomagnetic conditions taken from 12 or 13 monitoring stations around the world. This is updated about every 3 hours and the scale is given from 0-9. When the index is between 0 and 3, it is in the quiet range, when it reaches 4, it is classed as unsettled and between 5 and 9 it enters the storm range. The reason that we need to pay attention to this phenomena is because paranormal activity reputedly feeds off all energy, be it geomagnetic, electromagnetic, thermal or even biological (laughter included). CaSPIR UK provides the following link to help you find the KP Index of the current geomagnetic conditions. Click here for the KP Index! The best description that I have come across is from Steve Bartnicki of the Virginia Paranormal Investigative Team. "...so what happens is the solar flares ionize the Earth's atmosphere and the increased geomagnetic field raises the magnetic flux which causes higher electrical charges in anything capable of carrying an electrical current (Lenz's Law). "There is a problem with more sensitive EMF detection equipment during this period...they can give erroneous positive readings. Not erroneous in regards as to whether or not there is a field present...erroneous in the fact that what might be thought to be a indication of something 'out-of-the-ordinary', not expected for a given area, etc... really isn't so 'out-of-ordinary' given the current atmospheric conditions. In other words, we should be aware of these conditions so that the readings can be carefully reviewed and examined. "With that said...if you adhere to the belief that the spirit world is made up of beings that, in addition to being
energy themselves, use the normal energy sources available to them, ie: household appliances, batteries, wiring etc to
manifest their presence. Can you imagine what they can do with all this excess energy due to atmospheric conditions? It's like
