Interview with Stuart Logan

08 February 2007

Stuart Logan is the Co-Founder of C.O.T.C Paranormal Investigations based in Worthing, West Sussex and it was our privilege to have the opportunity to interview Stuart recently.

CaSPIR: What first stirred your interest in the paranormal?
Stuart: I saw my Granddad at the end of my bed when I was 8 years of age…he had died in 1934 when my father was 12 and this was in the year of 1975

CaSPIR: What made you 'found' your own paranormal group?
Stuart: In 1996 there were very few Paranormal Investigation Organizations around and whilst talking with my wife to be (Stacey) and our best friend (Adrian) we discovered we had a common interest and thought it would be a good challenge to run our own group.

CaSPIR: How many investigations have you attended to date?
Stuart: I really could not say but it has to be in excess of 400 as in the first few years of the organization we would do an investigation a week…now we do 2 a month minimum.

CaSPIR: Wow that's a lot of investigations you must have tremendous experience! What has been your best location to investigate and why?
Stuart: Chanctonbury Ring as its just got something about it.

CaSPIR: Have you ever been fearful whilst investigating a site?
Stuart: I have to say that as of yet I haven't but having lived in Ulster during the worst of the trouble years it makes you rather resistant to being fearful.

CaSPIR: What is your favorite piece of investigation equipment and why?
Stuart: Lately it has to be my digital Dictaphone as I think our best chance of proving spirit existence is via EVP

CaSPIR: What is your best tip for someone starting out as a paranormal investigator?
Stuart: Whether you are a believer or not, keep an open mind and don't jump to conclusions. Also ask as many questions about what you saw/heard and try and find a logical explanation first. Don't be in such a hurry to get in the media (paper or TV/Radio) as sometimes it gets in the way of doing your investigations in the best possible manner.

CaSPIR: What is the most unexplainable experience you have ever had?
Stuart: Having felt a hand grip my arm whilst in a room on my own (having asked for proof of spirit present). I can safely say that it was not muscle spasm.

CaSPIR: Have you ever used an Ouija board? What is your opinion on them?
Stuart: Yes. Judgment is still out as I am hoping to try some experiments to help explain how it works.

CaSPIR: Do you believe medium ship to be a real gift?
Stuart: I would not call it a gift as sometimes what you get to see/hear is quite distressing and it can be a curse at times to some people. I have spoken/seen/met many sensitives over the years and they all have their own angle on what it is like to have.

CaSPIR: Do you think there is intelligent life on other planets?
Stuart: Has to be…..such a vast area and to think we are the only intelligent life in the universe is rather arrogant.

CaSPIR: What is your opinion on crop circles?
Stuart: Flatten crops….lol. I don't really have an opinion on them…perhaps I should look into that.

CaSPIR: What are your thoughts on Most Haunted, and other 'paranormal entertainment' TV programs?
Stuart: When done for TV it has to be entertaining and that's when the truth can be lost as well as integrity of the individuals doing this. However they are interesting to watch and help bring the subject to the fore of peoples thoughts. They also give us plenty to talk about on the forums…lol

CaSPIR: Please tell me the first word that comes into your head after the following words:
Space - My head
Anomaly - Star Trek
Deport - Drink

Thank you Stuart for you time with us. The link to our very good friend Stuart and his group COTCPI can be found on our Group Links Page and is well worth a look.
